This was a concept project that I worked on to challenge myself and explore behaviors in navigation systems. I originally had the idea to incorporate an option for the user to customize their route. However, after my user surveys and interviews, I was humbly reminded that I am not the user. My insights indicated that users wanted better filter options and an option that would allow them to see a real time 3D view of their surroundings and their route.
Since I was adding a feature into this existing product, I familiarized myself with Google's Material Design system.
Through surveys and user interviews, I realized my initial ideas were not in line with what the users wants or needs.
By listening, asking questions, and being open to going back to the drawing board, I discovered a feature that was worth exploring. I interviewed again, I tested, and if I had more time and resources I would continue to iterate on these features. During this project, I discovered the importance of listening to users rather than assuming a feature will be successful. User feedback was instrumental to the development of this project and I thoroughly enjoyed the process.
