Background

CryptoSlam is a multi-chain data aggregator that focuses on NFT Collectible sales, NFT Collections, Fan Tokens, and Blockchain rankings. CryptoSlam was looking to improve user engagement and retention through the launch of a new collection dashboard experience.

PROBLem

The original collection dashboard experience was fragmented across two different interfaces. In order to improve confusion, disrupted workflow, and centralize usage we went about redesigning the experience.

OUTCOME

The prototype was preferred by all users to the current experience and the successful launch of the MVP has increased total time spent on the platform by 50%.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

  • CONFUSION
Two different interfaces is causing confusion amongst users. Users struggle to navigate the different layouts, features, and functionalities.
  • DISRUPTED WORKFLOW
Inconsistencies in data points and information available is disrupting the workflow for users.
  • IMPROVE EXPERIENCE
Redesigning the collection dashboard will create a unified, user-friendly interface that improves usability and effectiveness. It will simplify management for internal teams and create a more consistent user experience.

COMPETITVE ANALYSIS

IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITY

Performing extensive research across a vast number of competitors allowed me to breakdown similarities, differences and areas of opportunity between our competitors.
  • INTERACTIVE GRAPHS
Users expect graphs to be functional and interactive. Users want the ability to zero in on specific dates, times, and important events within the graphs.
  • INFORMATION HIERARCHY
It is important to guide the users through the information presented, telling them a story about the collection and highlighting relevant data. Heavy amounts of data can feel cluttered and hard to navigate.
  • OPPORTUNITIES
Many competitors are geared solely towards advanced users or beginners. We have an opportunity to widen our user base by offering a site keen to both.
USER INTERVIEWS

HEARING FROM OUR USERS

I met with beginners, active traders, and advanced users to get a deeper understanding of their wants, needs, and pain points with the current experience.

WANTS + NEEDS

  • All participants noted an expectation for dynamic and interactive charts
  • An overview of a collection - quick, easy to understand, digestible information
  • Specific information such as Floor Price, Rarity, and Volume
  • Many participants noted the want for listing data

CURRENT PAIN POINTS

  • Information overload, too much information feels overwhelming and much of it gets lost
  • Current collection dashboard experience is confusing with the different interfaces
  • UI feels outdated, needs a refresh
  • Users aren't getting what they are expecting/see from other similar sites
ITERATION
Hand sketches help me flush out ideas and refine the design. We started to create a design system during the homepage redesign, which was expanded as I worked on the collection dashboard experience. Having many of the bigger components finished, allowed me to create high fidelity wireframes quickly and easily.

CONCLUSION
This design is based on my findings from qualitative and quantitative research with NFT traders, degens, and collectors, and reflects how I incorporated those findings into a working prototype.

RESULTS

With the redesign, users were able to quickly find the information they wanted, gained confidence in the site, and were able to understand the data once we reorganized how the data was presented.
In user testing, this prototype was preferred by all users to the current experience.
Due to stakeholder priorities, I scaled back this prototype and provided an MVP after presenting this final design.
The MVP has increased total time spent on the platform by 50%, this prototype was preferred by all users to the current experience.

FINAL THOUGHTS + TAKEAWAYS

If I had been given more time, resources, and support to work on this project, I’d like to perform additional user research, usability testing, and further iterate on the design and functionality.
